About the Author

The author has been an aircraft enthusiast all of his life. He can recall building his first plastic models in the early 1950s while camping with his family at Lake Placid, NY.  With his Father, a WWII veteran (1st Canadian Parachute Battalion) he regularly visited Mt. Hope and the old Malton airports, just to watch the airplanes take off and land.

While on Summer vacation in 1955 or 1956, the author had his first airplane flight in a Piper float plane from the Mazinaw Lake in central Ontario. This chance opportunity would become the catalyst for this research project. The fact the author was born in Hamilton, Ontario was another contributing factor.
