The author’s interest in Cub aircraft was rekindled when he saw an original Piper J-3C-65 Cub at a local aerodrome. It reminded him of his first aircraft flight sometime around 1955. At this point, he only recalled his first flight was in a similar aircraft.

Shortly afterwards, the author found a 1:5th scale R/C Piper J-3 balsa wood kit that was missing its fuselage and cowling, but this did not deter the author in the least. Using the pilot’s name whom he had flown with in 1955, the author located information on the Internet identifying the Cub he received his first flight in was actually a similar Piper PA-11 Cub Special.
