Notes: CF-BFW c/n C-1107 was registered to Robert Languerand, Foleyet, Ontario on June 21, 1937. Floats would become the Achilles Heel of CF-BFW. It was delivered by Cub Aircraft Corp. Ltd. as a seaplane on EDO 1070 floats. DoT delayed its registration until the American Department of Commerce would provide a Certification of Airworthiness as a seaplane. No sooner than this was resolved in September 1937, Robert had three separate incidents that Fall on floats. A fourth accident occurred in March 1938 when a ski broke through ice. Most of these incidents required repairs at Cub Aircraft in Hamilton. CF-BFW was sold in May 1939 and flown sparingly during the war years. In September 1946 the current owner had a landing accident at the Kingston Flying Club. CF-BFW was eventually repaired and sold to Robert Hollister, September 30, 1951. Repairs were made at Bradley Air Service, Carp, Ontario then flown to Cornwall, Ontario and registered April 1, 1952. In 1953, CF-BFW was sold to J. Low at Longueuil, Quebec, but not registered and re-sold to Maurice Beaudoin, Montreal, Quebec on June 10, 1954. The next day Maurice was attempting to taxi CF-BFW on Riviere des Prairies on floats to his residence for repairs when he increased the throttle to avoid hitting the Pie IX Bridge. Maurice did not have a pilot's license and CF-BFW crashed, Damaged Beyond Repair, then sold for $25. |
